‘Patchwork’ is the name given to the Folk-group in the parish. It consists of five instrumentalists and six singers. Patchwork accompanies the hymns at 9.15am Mass on the second Sunday of each month. The group plays at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the next parish on the way into Southport, on the fourth Sunday of the month. The group has also played for Baptisms, Confirmations, Marriages and Funerals.
Patchwork busks for charity, mainly for Jospice International and H.C.P.T. New members - singers and instrumentalists - are welcome. Practice usually takes place one evening a week.
At present there is no permanent parish choir. A lovely new keyboard with many features and capabilities has recently been acquired and we also have our traditional church organ. The former instrument is used to accompany the congregation every other Sunday at 9.15am Mass. There is a great need for a permanent choir and any volunteer singers, instrumentalists or organisers should make themselves known to the Committee, who will make them most welcome.
